Sphag Sorb
Sphag Sorb

A lightweight, biodegradable, industrial oil absorbent that is more economical, more efficient, and easier to use than conventional absorbents.A non-toxic,
non-abrasive, natural product manufactured from sphagnum peat moss, originating in the bogs of Canada Peat in its natural state, the first step in the formation of coal and oil, and a little more than a particle decomposition of mosses in their biodegradable state Peat is dehydrated to a moisture content of 0% to 10%, then activated into a high grade of material with a strong affinity to encapsulate oils and organic solvents.

What does it do?

  • Absorbs hydrocarbons, PCBs, and other chemicals with quick, encapsulating wicking action
  • Uses less product for storage and disposal: 1 lb. absorbs approximately 1 U.S. gallon (4 liters) of oil.
  • It is oleophillic (absorbs oil quickly) and hydrophobic (resists taking on water), so it is ideal for both industrial as well as specialized uses
  • Reduces up to 90% of combustable vapors upon application due to its high vapor suppression capacity.
  • Removes all free oil from spill sites upon extraction because of inherent non-leaching and encapsulating characteristicsn Acts in various capacities, absorbing hydrocarbons on land, on hard surfaces (asphalt, concrete, etc.) on water, in drums, and more.
